Knoxville Policy Director Joins Pre-Conference Event

Plain Talk on Quality Growth, an East Tennessee conference scheduled for March 30, is pleased to announce the addition of several new panelists and presenters for the pre-conference public event on Thursday, March 29.

William Lyons, Senior Director of Policy Development for the City of Knoxville, will serve as moderator. Lyons is also a Professor of Political Science, currently on leave from the University of Tennessee. He will facilitate the discussion titled, “What Are Our Opportunities Locally and How Can We Foster Smart Growth?”

The panel discussion will follow a public lecture by Daniel Williams, FAIA, APA, at the University Center Auditorium. The host for the pre-conference event is the Howard H. Baker Jr. Center for Public Policy; the UT College of Architecture and Design is the event sponsor.

During the panel discussion, panelists will share their experience and ideas about what drives development patterns in East Tennessee and what opportunities individuals have to influence the ways in which their communities grow.

Panelists for the discussion include:

Seong-Hoon Cho, Assistant Professor, Agricultural Economics;
David Hill, Senior Director, South Waterfront Development, City of Knoxville;
Tracy Moir McClean, Associate Professor, School of Architecture;
Reagan Richmond, Vice President, Students Promoting Environmental Action in Knoxville (SPEAK);
David Watson, Executive Director, East Tennessee Community Design Center.
